Endometriosis

Endometriosis is a common condition in which tissue similar to the lining of the uterus grows outside of the uterus, usually on the ovaries, fallopian tubes, and the tissue lining the pelvis. This tissue can cause inflammation, pain, and scarring, which can affect fertility.

Causes:

• Retrograde menstruation

• Cellular metaplasia

• Immune system dysfunction

• Genetic factors

• Environmental factors

• Hormonal abnormalities

Symptoms:

• Painful periods (dysmenorrhea)

• Pain during or after sex (dyspareunia)

• Painful bowel movements or urination

• Heavy menstrual bleeding

• chronic pelvic pain

• Abnormal vaginal bleeding or discharge

• Presence of palpable mass in lower abdomen

• Fatigue

• Infertility
